Can High Cholesterol Cause Chest Discomfort?

High cholesterol does not directly cause chest discomfort. However, it plays a central role in the development of conditions that do.

Over time, excess cholesterol can build up in the arteries, leading to narrowing and reduced blood flow. When the heart requires more oxygen, this limitation can result in chest discomfort known as angina.

Angina is a symptom of underlying coronary artery disease rather than cholesterol itself.

Because high cholesterol is often symptomless in its early stages, regular monitoring is essential for early detection and prevention.
