Can FH Patients Live a Normal Lifespan?

Familial Hypercholesterolaemia is a genetic condition that leads to high cholesterol from birth. Historically, it was associated with a significantly reduced life expectancy.

Today, this is no longer the case for most patients.

With early diagnosis and effective treatment, individuals with FH can achieve a near-normal lifespan. Modern medications help control cholesterol levels and reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease.

The timing of intervention is important. Starting treatment early limits long-term damage and improves outcomes.

Family screening remains a key part of identifying and managing FH effectively.
