The Subtle Signs Your Child May Be Withdrawing After Bullying

Look for:

  • Avoidance of school talk
  • Sudden mood shifts
  • Reluctance to attend events
  • Physical complaints before school

These may signal deeper discomfort.

Avoid Immediate Problem-Solving

When they begin sharing:

  • Do not interrupt
  • Avoid criticising the other child in extreme terms
  • Avoid dramatic promises

Say:

  • “I’m glad you told me.”
  • “We will figure this out together.”

Bullying becomes heavier when carried alone.

Does your child see you as a safe landing place?
