What Foods Should Be Avoided at Iftar to Follow Sunnah?

The Sunnah does not list forbidden Iftar foods, but it clearly models moderation.

The Prophet  broke his fast lightly and calmly. From this, scholars highlight that very heavy, fried, or sugary foods should be avoided at the beginning of Iftar.

Overeating immediately after fasting goes against the Sunnah balance. Iftar was meant to end the fast gently, not abruptly shock the body.

This approach keeps space for prayer, presence, and gratitude.

Wise Compass often reflects on how Sunnah habits help modern routines slow down.

That same thoughtful approach continues through Juniors’ Adventures and Young Explorers, where everyday decisions are explored with care.

The Sunnah focuses on how we eat, not just what we eat.

How does this compare with your usual Iftar routine?
