What Are the Best Foods to Eat First at Iftar According to Sunnah?

The Sunnah way of beginning Iftar is intentionally simple.

The Prophet  would start with fresh dates. If fresh dates were not available, dried dates were used, and if those were unavailable, water was sufficient.

This sequence was not about preference alone. It reflected nourishment, ease, and gratitude after fasting.

Beginning lightly allowed space for prayer and reflection before returning to eat more fully.

Wise Compass often reflects on how prophetic habits bring balance into daily worship.

That same reflective approach continues through Juniors’ Adventures and Young Explorers, where everyday practices are explored thoughtfully.

Iftar starts with awareness.

How does this compare with how you usually begin your Iftar?
