Should You Pray Maghrib Before or After Eating at Iftar?

The Sunnah approach is simple and intentional.

The Prophet  would break his fast as soon as sunset arrived, then pray Maghrib. This usually involved a small amount of food or water before prayer, followed by a fuller meal later.

This sequence ensured the fast ended promptly and prayer was performed without distraction from hunger.

It also shows that Islam does not require choosing between nourishment and worship. Both are honoured.

Wise Compass often reflects on how these small details bring ease into daily practice.

That same thoughtful approach continues through Juniors’ Adventures and Young Explorers, where everyday routines are explored with care.

Balance was built into the Sunnah.

Do you find it easier to pray before or after eating?
