Do You Need to Make an Intention for Fasting Every Single Day?

Intention is essential for fasting, but how it is formed is often misunderstood.

The intention does not need to be verbal or repeated formally. What matters is clarity of purpose. Many scholars accept a single intention for the month, provided nothing interrupts it. Others recommend renewing it nightly as an act of mindfulness.

This difference does not reflect contradiction. It reflects emphasis. Intention is about awareness, not formula.

Wise Compass often reflects on how such differences invite people to focus less on technical anxiety and more on sincerity.

That sincerity is echoed through Juniors’ Adventures and Young Explorers, where values are approached with calm reflection.

Intention does not complicate fasting. It centres it.

What helps you stay mindful of your intention during Ramadan?
